Five Demos for Relatively Okay Luck

by The Phantom Dream

1.
I wanna take you, don’t wanna come and go ‘Cause you’re the finest girl that’s ever brought me home But I think that there’s someone watching me I see them creeping in the shadow of our neighbor’s trees And if we run I think it ends all the same And no I’m sorry but I don’t know how to fuckin’ explain We pull the weight but they pull all the strings To keep us living in our dead-end, broken, dying dreams So would you ride with me, would you die with me? Would you open up your sunken eyes with me? Will you fight your fears and face another year? Or will you play the kind of music that they want to hear? You wanna take me, you wanna leave this place I wanna panic when I see the look that’s on your face Their agents are watching every step Every shiver, every mutter, every ragged breath The trap is sprung, now we’re caught in the dark We touch the sky and the ground begins to tear us apart Never crashed a car before tonight, but I’m ready now Lying in the ditch in the smoke and broken glass If this night is my moment, please don’t let it pass So would you ride with me, would you die with me? Would you open up your sunken eyes with me? Will you fight your fears and face another year? Or will you play the kind of music that they want to hear? Will you fade away with the break of day? Will you never say the things you thought you needed to say? Cuz I’m taking flight in the dead of the night And even though I sound crazy, girl, you know I’m right When will it stop, where will we be? I’m taking the jump, I’m counting to three There’s no stopping now, I won’t go alone I won’t leave you here in this world of stone So will they kill your kind, erase your family line? Are you here without a purpose, are you ready to die? Under chemical skies the blood will paint our eyes Look at the world before they burn it, are you really surprised? Are you really surprised? Are you really surprised?

The War Song 08:31
Tonight, all night We run, we fight Six guns, one fear Rattled heart, death is near Bloody water, broken streets Neither side will admit defeat Our time is up, now the end is here Sadist hearts pray on our fear Bombs tear through London skies An agony raining from the smoking heavens Please, I need to know I’m not alone They steal our hope, rape our homes Disowned, dethroned Cast down, outgrown Your time, your fate You’ll learn too late Bloody water, broken streets Neither side will admit defeat Our time is up, now the end is near Sadist hearts pray on our fear Bombs tear through the New York skies An agony raining from the smoking heavens Please, I need to know I’m not alone They steal our hope, rape our homes These demons Mortars tear flesh away (Our souls are fading to gray) Everyone’s caught in the fray (Cold stares and nothing to say) I saw you running away; I am the bringer of fate A far cry from rage I sleep ‘neath the concrete ocean’s waves Your melody is more than strong enough You’ve called my bluff; there’s nothing to say There’s nothing to say Bombs tear through the Tokyo skies An agony raining from the smoking heavens Please, I need to know I’m not alone They steal our hope, rape our home These demons Mortars tear flesh away (Our souls are fading to gray) Everyone’s caught in the fray (Cold stares and nothing to say) I saw you running away; I am the bringer of fate
3.
Just think if we could find a way (To claw our way out from the dark) Then we could live our lives the way they were before I know there’s nothing left to say (What did we ever say before?) This lack of oxygen has stopped my heart We went in for a brighter dawn (For a brighter dawn) We drove south under scars of breaking fire (Breaking fire) And if you think it’s over then you will never be the same And will you never ask me if everything will be okay? The blood that stains our greedy hands (We’ll never wash it all away) We made it out alive and still you ask for more Will you leave me to my guilt? Or are you gonna bring it my way? Aim between my eyes We went in for a brighter dawn (For a brighter dawn) We drove south under scars of breaking fire (Breaking fire) The ones you murder trying will always be the ones to pay I should have stayed to face my fate, now I’m just a pawn inside your game Oh brother, your voice is louder And you don’t sound the same as when we were young Oh brother, I can’t scream louder And it don’t matter anyway Just kill the pain away We drove south to the station outside town (Station outside town) We stepped out, four pistols shining in the sun (Shining in the sun) Now I would have just walked away but you needed to end it here Two friends who wrote the master plan, now enemies seduced by fear
4.
You picked me up when I was down I just kept falling to the ground You let me in when I was dark and I had nothing to do But then you sent me to my grave You told me not to misbehave And there I turned into a monster I am so empty, broken down and hollow But I am not your scapegoat ‘Cause I’m a hurricane in black and white And I crush everything left in sight now The gales are burning static tonight The maelstrom sets our lives alight I’m out here in the blackest night Waiting breathless out of sight For the cold to catch me without any place to stay You were the one who made me well And took me out of my living hell You made me sane when I was haunted I will be waiting, for another chance to Say the things I should have said ‘Cause I’m a hurricane in black and white And I crush everything left in sight now The gales are burning static tonight The maelstrom sets our lives alight Yeah we’re left here with no direction, left to face the night ‘Cause the world around us is just a hurricane dressed in black and white Let me free, let me out; this isn’t right Because the world around us is just a hurricane dressed in black and white ‘Cause I’m a hurricane in black and white And I crush everything left in sight now The gales are burning static tonight The maelstrom sets our lives alight Go!

Nine Ball 06:31
She sings the songs that no one thinks about She chases ghosts without a single doubt And in her heart she knows the dream is near The ending will soon be here She believes that a day will come When the phantom can no longer run And through her eyes of the nine she sees Her heart will leave and set her free I sang her my life that morning; I stopped at thirteen She asked me who wrote this story, I guess it was me From her lips I drew my glory, the love that I took with me The nine-ball will send its warning until the day she dreams On the hilltop she waited for dawn Until the traces of starlight were gone And in the silence the sky would part It’s leading through the very start In my dreams I have seen her face Seen the eyes of the one I have chased But now she is here in my arms And she will never come to harm, no she won’t, no I sang her my life that morning; I stopped at thirteen She asked me who wrote this story, I guess it was me From her lips I drew my glory, the love that I took with me The nine-ball will send its warning until the day she dreams And at the end of our winding road When hope dies out and the night is cold It’s no surprise I’ve found you here The wind still carries your bitter tears I know you want to live again Even though you’re a slave to my dark intent And when you run I’ll find you, dear The way to the end is finally clear One, Two, Three, Go
